HIPs were introduced in September 2007 in England and Wales to speed up the home selling process, but were widely criticised by industry figures and customers alike. Although unpopular, as Estate Agents our sales transaction time reduced by 2 to 3 weeks and our cancellation rate also fell by about 5%.
HIPs may have been suspended, but home sellers will still need to obtain an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), as this remains a legal requirement. At Tydemans we have a member of staff qualified to carry out Energy Assessments.
Without the need for sellers to obtain a HIP, it is likely that there will be an increased number of new properties to the market in the coming weeks. This will result in a larger choice for buyers, although creating a more competitive market.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, or any of our staff for advice on obtaining an EPC or marketing your property.
